Before deciding how property should be divided it is necessary to know the value of the property. It is best if you can agree on values otherwise you will need to get written valuations from appropriate licensed valuers. In the case of real estate such valuations will cost some hundreds of dollars. The value of household items will be what they would fetch at auction, not what it would cost to replace them. Many people are happy to divide the household items between them. It is a good idea to make a list of who wants what and see if you can agree about a division of the items. The RAA and the Red Book online can be helpful in providing estimates of values for motor vehicles. You will need to know the value of any superannuation, life insurance policies, etc and provide the relevant documentation. Read more Useful links | | . Our Lawyers Important Documents |
