With some limited exceptions it is now compulsory for separating couples to attend a family dispute resolution provider before starting court proceedings relating to children. The Family dispute resolution provider is a mediator who must issue the parties with a certificate indicating that they have attended and made a genuine attempt to resolve matters. Moore Mediation has a Registered Dispute Resolution Provider who can issue the certificates.
Family Mediation is an excellent option for most people and a better alternative to going to the Family Court. Because the court process is geared towards the parties proceeding to trial there is much formality and work which needs to be done by a lawyer. It is costly and time consuming. Only a small percentage of cases actually reach a trial. Most cases are settled somewhere along the way.
Our mediators are also qualified lawyers and can provide you with family law information. and prepare documentation to ensure any agreement reached will be binding.
